National Food Laboratory (NFL), Delhi – NCR, Ghaziabad is one of the premier ‘Referral Food Laboratory’ under FSS Act 2006 which symbolises the synchronisation of policy-driven partnerships and collaboration with a holistic approach and a futuristic vision for testing domestic and imported samples along with Private samples, thus, achieving globally benchmarked food standards and testing. To ensure consistency in enforcement through food testing with standardized testing methods and protocols, Laboratory ensures wholesome and hygienic food to all citizens towards creating a ‘Swastha Bharat’.

National Food Laboratory, Ghaziabad earlier known as ‘Food Research & Standardization Laboratory (FRSL)’ was established in 1971. The laboratory was functioning under the ‘Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)’ under ‘Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’ till 2009, now registered under the Jurisdiction of ‘Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)’ in 2009. It is a model state of the art food laboratory having the ability to test all kind of food matrices for a large number of parameters with optimum regulatory compliances as specified in ‘Food Safety and Standards Act, Rules and  Regulation’ (FSSR), 2011. It Undertakes Research and Development work for standardisation of testing methods for food products and food additives.

NFL, Ghaziabad is a model state of the art Food Laboratory having ability to test variety of Food Products of approximately 2500 number of FSSAI-NABL Parameters complying to various regulators for conformity as per ‘Food Safety & Standards Regulations 2011’. It examine routine ‘Legal’ samples, ‘Designated Officer’s’ samples, ‘Import’ Samples and ‘Surveillance’ samples alongwith samples  from various Government Organizations and FSSAI regulators. It also undertakes Research and Developmental projects for Quality Up-gradation, Method Validation and Verification for various Food Products.

NFL, Ghaziabad is functioning as a ‘Referral Laboratory’ (Under Section 43.2) as well as a ‘Primary Notified Laboratory’ (Under Section 43.1). It is analysing various food products under food and agricultural products such as Cereal and Pulses, Milk and Milk Products, Oil and Fats, Spices and Condiments, Fruits and Vegetables, Bakery and Confectionary, Ready to eat Products, Meat and Meat Products, Fish and Marine Products, Poultry and Poultry Products, Drinking Water, beverages etc. for all Quality parameters, like, Residues, Nutritional Labelling, Contaminants e.g. Heavy metals, Pesticide, Drugs, Antibiotics, NOTS and most of the Microbiological aspects by using all modern high end instruments. NFL, Ghaziabad, thus, endeavours the highest possible standard of testing to ensure credibility and impartiality of test results nationally and globally.

Apart from the Testing Facilities at NFL, Ghaziabad it has two State of art Training Centres Namely: ‘Food Safety Solution Centre (FSSC)’ and ‘Centre for Microbiological Analysis & Training (C-MAT)’. FSSAI has established these Centres for training on Advanced Instrumentation in Collaboration with the ‘Thermo fisher Scientific Ltd.’ and ‘Merck India Ltd.’ respectively for strengthening the skills and knowledge required for Food Testing Laboratories and various ‘Food Industries’. Thus, at every stages National Food Laboratory, Ghaziabad is committed to provide a reliable Food Testing Laboratory to establish a robust “Food Safety Ecosystem” in India.
